Abstract
At its September 2011 meeting the WRFU Rugby Board was requested to:
“Commission an Independent Strategic Review of the Governance of Junior Club and Primary Schools Rugby under the jurisdiction of the Wellington Rugby Football Union”.
Objective and Scope:
To conduct a comprehensive review of junior rugby at both club and school level within the 0-12 year old age group. There is to be full consultation with all relevant stakeholders to include but not be limited to club and school representatives and their associated bodies and committees namely, Junior Rugby Zones Executive (JRZE) and Greater Wellington Primary Schools Rugby Union (GWPSRU), WRFU and Sport Wellington.
Specific Instructions:
Against this background the committee is directed to:
1. Consider its findings and report back with recommendations to the WRFU Rugby Board with an overriding desire to maximise the level of participation and enjoyment of junior rugby in clubs and schools in Wellington.
2. Outcomes from this Review should ensure Wellington Rugby has appropriate structures in place to support increased participation, a strengthened and sustainable future player base and greater enjoyment for all involved.
